On Wednesday, April 20th, a group of Carthage KAO students got together to provide students the opportunity to donate unwanted goods to the Reuse House: a house on the Carthage College campus where anyone from the community can drop off and pick up used goods! Want to know the best part? It is all FREE!
The Reuse house is new to our campus and originated from one of our environmental sciences courses, case studies. In this class, students are tasked with developing a proposal to the college as to how our campus can be more sustainable. The founder of the Omega Chapter, Sage O’Brien, had brought the idea to this course. From there, students knew this small class project could truly be turned into a sustainable future for our campus. Today, the Reuse house has received numerous donations and supports countless people with goods!
The KAO students genuinely enjoyed giving back to the Reuse house. In doing so, we also educated our small community with fun and colorful brochures that we passed out. The students of the KAO Omega Chapter hope to hold another event in collaboration with the Reuse House towards the end of our semester to reduce the environmental impact our campus may have as students part ways from the campus for summer break!
