The IEA is a non-profit organization whose functions are neither “lobbying” nor “watch-dog” in nature. Its mission is educational with two objectives:

  • First, to bring together all disciplines within an academic and professional organization that expands their understanding of, and ability to address, environmental issues through interdisciplinary communication.
  • Second, to inform each other about approaches, accomplishments, current concerns, and plans for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The IEA is currently responsible for the publication of Interdisciplinary Environmental Review, the organization of the International Interdisciplinary Conference on the Environment, and the formation of Kappa Alpha Omicron, the international honor society in interdisciplinary environmental science and environmental studies.
